Hah! What pickup moves? I'm trying to learn this stuff just like all the other guys and girls on this site. That being said, I did get a little inspiration from this site when I made my boldest pickup move ever.
I had been campaigning on this site for a few days and I was volunteering for the Atlanta Dogwood Festival too. When I ended my shift at the festival, I decided to take in the sights. I came across this photographer's booth. As I was admiring the photographs, I noticed a young lady wandering the booth as well. We seemed to play a sort of cat and mouse game throughout the maze of photographs. At one point, she was standing right next to me. I imagined that we were long lost soulmates brought together by these captivating works of art. I started talking about the art with her, never really looking at her but keeping most of my attention on the photographs. She chimed in with her observations. And the game had begun. I couldn't believe I was actually standing beside this beautiful girl, having a conversation.
I found out she was an art lover just like me. Her favorite medium was photography (something she was trying to get back into). And she had recently moved to Atlanta. I kept it pretty casual...and then she left.
I thought to myself, "I cannot let this girl get away..." So, I got a calling card from the photographer's assistant (which was a 3"x5" index card that had a photo on one side) and approached the mystery lady again. I showed her the cool looking calling card. And she wanted one too...actually, she wanted the exact one that I had. So, I took her arm in mine and we walked back to the photo booth. I helped her find a calling card. She asked what my name was. I told her. I then flipped my card over, handed her a pen and said, "Why don't you put your name and number here and I'll call you." She did. And that was my first number close in very long time.
I wouldn't have been able to have done that without this site. It really gave me the encouragement to take that chance. Check out my pics section. I'll post an image of the calling card and her signature on the backside for all you guys. If you're interested in photography, you should check out the artist's work. His name is Emerson Matabele. Look him up online.
